Our Services

We are the Waikato’s trusted experts in crafting homes that exceed the building code.

Since 2016 we have been implementing the latest building science methods and high performance products and materials to build high performing homes that perform well above the New Zealand building code.

eHaus are New Zealand’s leaders in PassivHaus design and construction. Every eHaus is designed and constructed using International Passive House design software. Measured proven performance to live by for a healthy, comfortable, all year round lifestyle. This is what sets us apart in our industry.

Passive House is a European standard of building, combining the five principles of; airtight construction, increased insulation, thermal-bridge free construction, high-performance window joinery, and mechanical heat recovery ventilation, to leave you with a high performing home with unprecedented comfort, health and energy benefits.

At eHaus we believe that it’s our collective responsibility to take care of the environment without sacrificing the comforts of your family’s everyday life. That’s why we work one-on-one with you to design and build your eHaus, creating a home that consumes 75 – 90 percent less heating energy while providing healthier and more comfortable living spaces.

Homestar.

Homestar is a tool created by the NZ Green Building Council to rate a home’s performance and environmental impact. A 10 Homestar rating recognises world leading standards for design, construction and efficiency in operation. A 6 Homestar rating recognises a home that has been built at or above the current standards set by the New Zealand building code, dependent on location across Aotearoa.

As Homestar practitioners we can offer this assessment tool for your project.

Airtightness Testing.

Uncontrolled airflow through the building structure drastically reduces the efficiency of insulation and will ultimately compromise the integrity of that insulation if moisture builds up within the wall cavity. Having an airtight home means you are able to control the air and moisture.

Long term insulation effectiveness is dependent on the quality of the airtightness envelope protecting the structure of your home. Having an airtight structure helps maintain a constant indoor temperature which saves energy costs by ensuring that heat energy is kept within your home.

We use blower door testing as a measure of building airtightness. Members of our team have been trained to use the Minneapolis Blower Door unit. It fits into any external door of your home or building. It can be used on existing buildings for air leakage testing, or on new builds to test the seal of the completed installation before the plasterboard is attached.

Structurally Insulated Panels.

Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are a high performance building system for residential and light commercial construction. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective.
